The Oil Compound house was designed from prototype photographs and an article in Model Railroader Magazine (April 1963) by Don Sims. This building is one of several structures located in and about a yard of a short line which was laid in 1910 near the back country town of Quincy, California in Plumas County. The railroad was still in use in 1963 and we belt all the various structures of the Quincy Railroad yard deserve to be modeled in HO scale because of their utilitarian design.

The Oil or Compound House is used to store oil, grease and other similar products in bulk amounts, also to load and deliver them to the local retail dealers. The structure is frame with corrugated siding and roof, kept well pained and of necessity, neat and clean. A truck loading dock and an overnight storage for a small truck.
