#392, Norm's Landing Pier Kit HO scale: This kit is a wonderful representation of a common pier seen around the country for the past 100+ years. Its size offers a place for Norm's Landing Boat Shop, plus Norm's Landing Ice House and Cafe. All named after Norman Collins, the husband of Sherry Collins who was one of the original Campbell Scale Models employees and designer of many Campbell kits. This pier has a ramp leading down to a series of boat slips where row boats can be rented. This craftsman kit consists of scale lumber (sugar pine). It is ready for paint and weatherizing. Complete instructions, drawings, and templates are included. This is a laser-cut kit.

Note 1: This document is scanned in the size B4 (about 10-3/16 by 14-3/8 inch) a format often used in Japan and/or Europe. If you plan on printing the document to full size (100%), use 11 x 17 inch paper. Most hobbyists will need to copy these files on a thumb drive then printed at their local office supply store (Kinkos, Staples, etc.).
Note 2: This document has a drawing component that takes up two large pages making up a very large image. Once both halves of the drawing are printed, care must be taken to align the two pages to produce one complete drawing image. Also check the inch ruler scale included in the drawing with your own ruler to determine if the printer you've used hasn't increased or decreased the printout image. If so, measure parts from the center (then left and right).

Our HO Fishing Pier (Kit #0392) is designed especially as the basis of our masterpiece in a waterfront pier complex. This kit is of all precision cut wood gang-planking for the decking and wooden dowels cut to exact size for all pilings. Accompanying the pier is the material for a gang-way and float to moor dinghies or small craft. A small wooden rental shack with a corrugated roof is included which sits on the float. The Boat Shop (Kit #0396), Ice House & Cafe (kit #0397), and Rowboat with Oars & Locks (part #1600) compliment this pier structure.

Nautical detailing is a different challenge in a hobby that is mostly associated with prairies and mountains. Norm's Landing has no prototype but is a combination of calendar pictures, personal observations and creative thinking. A group of three separate wood structures are combined on a common fishing pier. The main building, or Boat Shop and the Bait Shop are of tongue and groove siding and the small octagonal Cafe is of board and bat siding. The Boat Shop has a roof of Corrugated Aluminum while the Bait Shop and Cafe are topped with Profile Shingles. Finely molded plastic doors, windows and pulleys are included in the kit.

The Pier, of all wood decking, bracing and pre-cut pilings is designed with a truck ramp to ease loading and unloading. Materials for a Float for tying up private and rental fishing dinghies is provided. The Pier floor takes approximately 8 x 10 inches with its walkway and truck ramp covering a 3 x 12 inch space. The T-shaped Float as designed here uses water space of about 5 x 7-1/2 inches.

This Kit (#0392) was introduced by Campbell Scale Models back in November 1975.
