Our Northern Water Tank, designed for the "colder climates." Water tanks were a must for the steam locomotive and for this reason water tanks were to be found along the right-of-way of every railroad operating steam locomotives, at intervals to assure a plentiful supply of water wherever it might be needed. Every town and junction needs a water tank and others should be placed between these points wherever required--often far out int he country, completely away from civilization. The enclosed tower portion of this Water Tank is typical of those used in the northern areas of the United States for greater protection than offered by the standard "frost box." Generally, it was to protect a pump from the extremes of nature.
Much realism is achieved with the fantastic amount of detail which features many finely detailed plastic castings including 48 tank band lugs, pulleys, spout, counterweights and finial, also in this kit is a real miniature chain.
There are templates for both regular HO height and HOn3 for easy assembly of a complicated-looking finished product. As in many of our kits we provide our own Profile Shingles for the roof.
This kit was first introduced by Campbell Scale Models back in March 1972.
